What an Elevation Certificate Does

• Documents your building's elevation relative to the Base Flood Elevation on FEMA's maps.
• Can lower flood insurance premiums — accurate elevation data frequently results in a better rating than the assumptions insurers use without one.
• Supports a LOMA application — if your structure is actually above the Base Flood Elevation, a Letter of Map Amendment can remove it from the mapped flood zone, and mandatory insurance requirements may be lifted.
• Satisfies lender and floodplain-permit requirements for construction in or near a flood zone.

How the Process Works

Our crew visits your property and measures the elevations FEMA requires — lowest adjacent grade, lowest finished floor elevation (FFE), machinery and equipment. We complete the current FEMA Elevation Certificate form, signed and sealed by a licensed surveyor, and deliver it to you and your insurance agent. If the flood zone supports it, we can also prepare and submit the LOMA application to FEMA on your behalf.
